Quizably documentation
Everything the free plugin does, explained step by step. 40 pages across 10 sections.
Getting started
- Install and activate Quizably
Install Quizably from the WordPress Plugins screen or a zip file, activate it, find the admin menu, update it, and understand what uninstalling removes.
- Quickstart: build your first quiz
Build, publish and test a personality quiz with a lead form in about ten minutes, from the New quiz button to a working quiz on your page.
- Tour of the Quizably admin
A guide to every Quizably admin screen: Dashboard, quizzes list and its actions, Question Bank, Leads, Integrations, Settings, and the quiz builder.
Building quizzes
- Quiz types: personality, trivia, survey and poll
Compare the four Quizably quiz types: what visitors see, how results are chosen, what you receive, and when to pick each one.
- Create a new quiz
Step through the New quiz flow: start from a ready-made quiz or from blank, choose type and template, name it, then use the builder tabs and publish.
- Question types
The six Quizably question types, their options and limits, how each counts in personality and trivia quizzes, required answers and auto-advance.
- The Questions tab
Add, edit, reorder and delete questions in the Quizably builder, and set up answer rows, correct answers, points and result mapping.
- Templates
The four Quizably templates (Classic, Minimal, Full Screen, Conversational): how each looks and behaves, and how to choose or change one.
- Design, colors and backgrounds
Use the Design drawer to set layout, colors, fonts, buttons and animation, and add background images and overlays to each quiz screen.
- Timers, randomization and auto-advance
Set a per-question timer, shuffle question and answer order, control auto-advance, and understand required question behavior.
- The Intro screen
Set the title, subtitle, image, start button and estimated time line that visitors see first, using the Intro tab in the builder.
- Question Bank
Keep reusable questions in the Question Bank and insert them into any quiz. Covers the three supported types, tags, search and limits.
- Export and import quizzes
Export a quiz to a JSON file, import it on the same or another site, and learn what is and is not carried over.
Results and scoring
- How personality scoring works
Map each answer to a result, and Quizably counts votes to pick a winner. Learn the tie rule, what happens with no mapped answers, and how to test.
- How trivia scoring works
Set points on correct answers, define inclusive score ranges, and learn how gaps, overlaps and the x of y correct line behave in a Trivia quiz.
- Surveys and polls
See what visitors get after a survey or poll, why you must add one thank-you result, and where to read the answers that respondents gave.
- The Results tab and result screens
Every field on a result: title, content, image, button, redirect, share buttons, background and more. Plus result order and the result shortcode.
Leads and emails
- The lead capture form
Collect names and emails with the Form tab: choose when the form appears, make it optional, edit labels, add consent text and learn how duplicates work.
- The Leads dashboard
Search, filter and export the people who filled in your quiz forms. See what the detail panel shows, what the CSV contains, and what deleting removes.
- Email notifications
Get an email when a quiz is completed or a lead is captured. Set the recipient, sender, subject and body, use tokens, and test your mail delivery.
- Webhooks
Send quiz data to your own endpoint, Zapier, Make or n8n. Setup, the default URL, the exact payload and event field, background delivery, retries and fixes.
- Double opt-in
Turn on Double opt-in in Quizably to email each lead a confirmation link. What visitors see, the email, the confirmation page, lead status, webhooks and testing.
Embedding
- Embed a quiz: block, shortcode and iFrame
Put a quiz on a page with the Advance Quiz block, the quizably_quiz shortcode or an iFrame, and find the ID and embed code on the Summary tab.
- Popup and slide-in embeds
Show a Quizably quiz in a popup or a corner slide-in with a shortcode. Attributes, triggers (click, delay, scroll, exit), the once option and accessibility.
Analytics and data
- Analytics
Read the Quizably dashboard and per-quiz analytics: what each metric counts, time ranges, the CSV export, and how to interpret the numbers.
- Data, privacy and security
What Quizably stores, how IP addresses are hashed, cookies, rate limits, who can access data, what uninstalling deletes, and how consent works.
Settings and privacy
- Plugin settings
Every Quizably setting: defaults for new quizzes, notification alerts, sender and Reply-To, the email subject and body, consent text and default webhook URL.
- Translate Quizably
How to translate the parts of Quizably that support translation, what stays in English, and how your own quiz text fits in.
