Quiz types: personality, trivia, survey and poll

Compare the four Quizably quiz types: what visitors see, how results are chosen, what you receive, and when to pick each one.

Every quiz has one type. The type decides how a visitor’s answers turn into a result. You choose it when you create the quiz, and there is no control to change it afterward. If you pick the wrong type, create a new quiz, or export the quiz and rebuild it with the right type.

The four types are Personality / Result, Trivia / Score-based, Survey / Form and Poll / Single question.

Personality / Result

Use it for: quizzes that sort people into outcomes, such as “What’s your coffee personality?” or product finders.

What the visitor sees: an intro screen, the questions one at a time, an optional lead form, and a result card with your title, description and image, plus an optional button and share buttons.

How it works:

  1. You create the results in the Results tab.
  2. In the Questions tab, you map each answer to one result using the result button on the answer row (it reads Result).
  3. Each selected answer with a mapping adds one vote to its result. The result with the most votes wins.
  4. If results tie, the one listed higher in the Results tab wins.
  5. If a visitor selects no mapped answers, the first result is shown on screen.

For multiple choice questions, every ticked answer that has a mapping counts. See Personality results.

Trivia / Score-based

Use it for: knowledge tests, certifications, and fun facts quizzes where there are right and wrong answers.

What the visitor sees: the questions, then a result card for their score band with a line such as “7 of 10 correct”. Unless you turn it off, a collapsible Review answers section shows which questions they got right or wrong.

How it works:

  1. On each answer, turn on Correct and type the points in Pts. The default is 0, so a correct answer with no points scores nothing.
  2. The score is the sum of points from correct answers the visitor selected.
  3. In the Score bands tab, each result has a Min and Max score. The first band that contains the score is shown.

Short text and rating questions are recorded but not scored. See Trivia scoring.

Survey / Form

Use it for: feedback forms, intake questionnaires and research where you want answers, not a verdict.

What the visitor sees: the questions, an optional lead form, then a single thank-you result screen.

How it works:

  • Nothing is scored. Every visitor sees the same result.
  • Add one result in the Result tab. The builder allows only one. It is the thank-you screen. If there is no result, visitors still end on a built-in thank-you screen that says “Your response has been recorded.”
  • Survey answers, including typed text and ratings, are visible in Leads, by opening a lead and reading its Answers section, and as one column per question in the leads CSV. That applies to visitors who filled in the lead form.

See Survey and poll.

Poll / Single question

Use it for: a short one-question opinion check.

A poll shows live results. After the visitor answers, the result screen is headed “Poll results” and lists every option with its percentage, a bar and a vote count, marks the visitor’s own pick with “Your vote”, and ends with the total number of votes. If you added a result, its title, text and image show above the tally. If you did not add one, the heading is “Thanks for voting”.

The tally counts completed submissions. Tallies are cached for 20 seconds, and nothing stops the same person from voting again by retaking the poll, so each retake adds a vote.

Note: The poll tally uses the first question only. A poll is not limited to one question in the builder, but the live results show just the first.
