Shortcodes and block reference

This page lists every way to place Quizably content on a page, with the exact attributes each one accepts. For step by step instructions, see Embed a quiz: block, shortcode and iFrame.

All of them show a quiz only when the quiz is Published.

Places a quiz where the shortcode appears.

Attribute	Required	Description
id	Yes	The numeric quiz ID, or the 36 character UUID.
autostart	No	1, true, yes or on skips the intro screen and starts at the first question. Anything else leaves it off.

Accepted ID forms

• Numeric. The ID shown on the Summary tab and in the address bar of the builder (#/quiz/<ID>/summary).
• UUID. A 36 character value of letters, numbers and hyphens. It is not shown in the admin. It appears in an exported quiz file, in the uuid field of the quiz object.

What renders

A container for the quiz, with the quiz data included in the page. Visitors with JavaScript turned off see “This quiz requires JavaScript.” The quiz scripts and styles are loaded only on pages that contain a quiz.

Requirements and behavior

• The quiz must be Published. Draft and archived quizzes print nothing.
• An empty id, an unknown ID or a value that is neither numeric nor a UUID prints nothing.
• With autostart on, a visitor who has saved progress still sees the “Resume where you left off?” prompt first.
• The quiz can appear more than once on a page, and several different quizzes can share a page. Each one runs separately.
• Every time the shortcode renders on the server, the quiz’s view count goes up. The count appears only in the analytics CSV export, not in the admin screens. A page cache serves stored copies of the page, so views on cached pages are not counted.
• The output contains the quiz content. After you edit a quiz, clear your page cache so visitors see the new version.

[quizably_quiz_popup] and [quizably_quiz_slidein]

Both put the quiz behind a button. id accepts the numeric ID or the UUID, and the quiz must be Published. Both include the quiz data, so the quiz has its questions without any other embed on the page.

trigger="exit" opens when the mouse leaves through the top of the window, so it never fires on touch devices. Press Esc to close either one. Full details: Popup and slide-in embeds.

[quizably_quiz_result]

Prints a saved result as a static card, without the interactive quiz.

[quizably_quiz_result]

The shortcode has no attributes. It reads the address of the current page for a quizably_result value, which must be the ID of a completed submission:

The Score: line appears only when the submission has a score, which in practice means trivia quizzes.

Note: Quizably does not create these links. The share buttons on a result screen point to the page the visitor was on. Use this shortcode only if you build the links yourself, for example in an automation that has the submission ID from a webhook (submission_uuid).

Choose a quiz

1. Insert the block.
2. In the block sidebar, open the Quiz panel.
3. Under Choose quiz, select your quiz. The first option is - Select a quiz -.

The dropdown lists up to 100 quizzes, most recently updated first, and includes drafts. A draft prints nothing on the live page, so check that the quiz is Published.

If no quiz is chosen, the page shows “Choose a quiz in the block settings.” to every visitor.

The iFrame embed URL

The iFrame embed loads the quiz on its own page, which you place in an <iframe> on any site.

Part	Description
quizably_embed	Required. The numeric quiz ID. The UUID is not accepted. A value that is not a positive number returns an error response.
max_width	Optional. Limits the width of the quiz card. Accepts a number with px, em, rem, vw, ch or % (for example 900px or 100%), or none. Other values are ignored.
bg	Optional. Page background as a hex color without the #, for example f5f5f5. Three to eight hex characters are accepted.

Things to know:

• The page has no theme header or footer and is marked noindex, nofollow.
• It is served from your WordPress site, so your site must stay online for the embed to work, even when the iFrame sits on another domain.
• It can be framed by other sites.
• A quiz that is not published returns a blank page.
• The frame does not resize itself. Set the height to fit your quiz.
