Changelog

Release history for the free Quizably plugin. The latest version is 1.2.0, released 2026-10-04. Version 1.0.0 was the first public release.

This page lists released versions of the free Quizably plugin, newest first. Quizably follows semantic versioning, so a change in the first number marks a major release.

1.2.0 (2026-10-04)

Added

  • Quiz resume. A visitor who reloads or leaves mid-quiz sees “Resume where you left off?” with Resume and Start over, in every template. Progress is kept in the browser for 7 days. Names, emails and free-text answers are never stored.
  • Popup and slide-in triggers: trigger="click|delay|scroll|exit", plus delay, scroll and once="session|day|always". The dialogs close with Esc and handle keyboard focus. See Popup and slide-in embeds.
  • The block’s Auto-start on load option now works, as does [quizably_quiz autostart="1"].
  • A fuller leads CSV export: quiz, result, score, double opt-in status, UTM fields, custom form fields and one column per question, so survey answers are included. Cells that start with =, +, - or @ are neutralized against spreadsheet formula injection.
  • The whole interface is translatable: the admin app and the quiz player now go through wp.i18n, including the default lead-form wording.
  • Right-to-left support in the admin app and the public quiz.

Changed

  • Webhooks no longer make the visitor wait. Deliveries are queued in WordPress cron and sent in the background. Retries, payloads and the Send test button are unchanged. Sites that set DISABLE_WP_CRON need a real cron job to deliver queued webhooks. See Webhooks.
  • New quizzes start from your Defaults and Branding settings (template, colors, font, button shape, form position, consent text), and Reply-To matches lead email now works in notification emails.
  • Removed settings that did nothing: logo URL, animation speed, lazy loading, the Editor and Author role toggles and the Advanced section. Values you saved earlier stay in the database.

Fixed

  • Reset all on the Settings screen no longer fails part-way when the server rejects a setting.

1.1.0 (2026-10-03)

Changed

  • Deleting the plugin no longer deletes anything. Quizzes, questions, results, leads, submissions, settings and integration settings stay in the database. To erase everything on delete, for example for GDPR, define QUIZABLY_REMOVE_ALL_DATA as true in wp-config.php before you delete the plugin. See Data and privacy.

1.0.1 (2026-10-03)

Fixed

  • Deleting the plugin no longer ends in “There has been a critical error”.
  • Double opt-in works end to end. The email link confirms the lead and shows a confirmation page, the visitor carries on to their result with a “Check your inbox.” notice, and the lead webhook and the owner’s new-lead email wait for the click. Unconfirmed leads are not counted in analytics. New hook quizably_lead_confirmed and new filter quizably_doi_email. See Double opt-in.
  • Security: confirmation tokens could be forged until double opt-in had been used once. A token is now rejected when no signing secret exists.
  • Popup and slide-in shortcodes now show the quiz. They accept a numeric ID or a UUID, and the Summary tab has a slide-in shortcode card.
  • Polls show live results after voting, with the visitor’s own pick marked.
  • Surveys and polls with no result configured no longer send the visitor back to the intro screen. A survey ends on the thank-you screen and a poll on the results screen.
  • Every webhook payload has an event field (submission_completed or lead_captured). The completed payload includes the lead when the visitor gave their details earlier in the visit, and a lead object includes double_optin_verified.
  • The Default webhook URL on the Integrations screen now saves, is validated, and is used by quizzes that have no webhook URL of their own.
  • Duplicating a question copies its answers.
  • Duplicating or importing a quiz keeps each result’s settings.
  • Lead counts in analytics now match the Leads list.
  • Admin text corrected: webhook retries run after about 1, 2 and 4 minutes.

1.0.0 (2026-09-23)

First public release.

Added

  • Four quiz types: Personality, Trivia, Survey and Poll.
  • Four templates: Classic, Minimal, Full Screen and Conversational.
  • Six question types: single choice, multiple choice, true/false, dropdown, short text and rating.
  • Custom backgrounds for questions and results, answer and question randomization, and a per-question timer.
  • Lead capture forms, shown before or after the quiz.
  • An email notification for submissions and leads, with an HTML version and a plain-text version, and token replacement in the subject and body.
  • A leads dashboard with search, filters and CSV export. The filters work across every quiz, and the search filter is respected on CSV export.
  • A webhook integration that sends submissions to Zapier, Make or any URL, with retries through WordPress cron.
  • Analytics: a site overview and per-quiz metrics for submissions, completion rate, average score and result distribution.
  • A Gutenberg block and the [quizably_quiz] shortcode.
  • A visual admin app with the tabs Overview, Questions, Results, Intro, Form, Integrations, Settings and Summary.
  • Server-side scoring, so quiz results are calculated on your site.
  • Rate limiting on the public endpoints, using a hashed form of the visitor’s IP address.
  • A translation file for the text written in PHP, with the text domain quizably.
  • Help tooltips on key admin controls.
  • Accessibility work: visible focus rings and ARIA roles on tabs and toggles.

Changed

  • Full Screen and Conversational templates, the dropdown, short text and rating question types, custom backgrounds, randomization and the per-question timer are all available in the free plugin.
  • The leads dashboard no longer requires you to pick a quiz before it can search or filter.
  • The Quizzes and Dashboard screens have an actions menu and redesigned settings cards.

Fixed

  • The plugin no longer depends on a separate code library being installed, which could leave a fresh install with a blank admin screen and no error message.
  • The admin screen now shows a clear notice instead of an endless loading message when its files are missing from an install.

Check your version

  1. Go to Plugins in WordPress.
  2. Find Quizably and read the version number under its name.

The sidebar of the Quiz Builder also shows the version near the logo.

Upgrading

New versions are listed here, most recent first. As with any plugin update, take a backup of your site first, and export your quizzes from All Quizzes if you want a copy of them outside WordPress. See Quiz export and import.
