Known limitations

What Quizably does not do, or does differently than you might expect, with the symptom you will see and the workaround. Checked against version 1.2.0.

This page lists the things in Quizably 1.2.0 that work differently than a label might suggest, plus a few gaps worth knowing before you plan a quiz. Each row says what you will see and what to do about it. Anything not listed here either works as described in its own page or is in Troubleshooting.

Leads and emails

AreaWhat you will seeWhat to do
Notification email wordingOne custom subject and one custom body are used for both the “new submission” email and the “new lead” email. The lead email has no result or score, so {result_title} is blank and {score} shows “N/A” there.Write wording that reads sensibly in both, or leave the fields empty to use the two built-in messages. See Email notifications.
Survey answersTyped text, ratings and choices are tied to a lead, so you can read them (in the lead’s detail panel or as columns in the CSV export) only for visitors who gave an email.Add a lead form to quizzes where you need to read individual answers. Analytics shows how answers are distributed overall. See Surveys and polls.
Double opt-in emailThe confirmation email is plain text, sent from the WordPress default sender, and its wording cannot be edited in the admin. The link never expires. Pending leads are listed in Leads, and the table has no status column.Use an SMTP plugin, change the wording with the quizably_doi_email filter if you need to, and open a lead to see its status. See Double opt-in.
Personal data toolsQuizably does not connect to the WordPress personal data export and erase tools.Search Leads by email and delete the lead. See Data and privacy.

Webhooks

AreaWhat you will seeWhat to do
Delivery depends on cronWebhooks are queued and sent by WordPress cron. On a site that sets DISABLE_WP_CRON and has no real cron job, nothing is delivered.Make a server cron job call wp-cron.php every minute or so. See Webhooks.
No delivery logA failed delivery is retried up to 3 times (about 1, 2 and 4 minutes later) and then dropped. There is no log or alert, and Integration sync in a lead’s detail panel stays empty.Test with a request catcher first, and make your endpoint reliable.
One URL per quizThe free plugin sends to one webhook URL per quiz, unsigned, plus the optional default URL.Use an automation tool as the receiver and fan out from there.
Payload contentsThe payload has no individual answers, typed text, UTM values or consent flag.Read those from Leads or the CSV export.

Quiz types and results

AreaWhat you will seeWhat to do
Poll votesThere is no limit on repeat votes. Every completed attempt counts, including retakes. The tally refreshes at most every 20 seconds, and only the poll’s first question is counted.Keep polls to one question. Do not treat poll totals as unique voters. See Surveys and polls.
Trivia scoring defaultsA correct answer with 0 points adds nothing, and a new score range starts at 0 to 0.Fill in Pts for each correct answer and set each score range. See Trivia scoring.
Quiz typeThe type is chosen when the quiz is created, and the builder has no control to change it later.Pick carefully before you build. See Quiz types.

Embedding

AreaWhat you will seeWhat to do
Popup and slide-in costA popup or slide-in loads the quiz with the page, even if the visitor never opens it. Each page view adds a view and starts an unfinished submission, which lowers your completion rate. Embedding the same quiz inline on that page as well starts two.Use them on the pages where you really want them, and do not repeat the quiz on the same page. See Popup and slide-in embeds.
Exit intenttrigger="exit" needs a mouse. It never fires on phones and tablets. The button is always on the page. Use delay or scroll for touch visitors.

Builder and settings

AreaWhat you will seeWhat to do
Duplicate questionDuplicate copies the title, description, type, settings and every answer, but not the question’s own image and not its branching logic.Add the image and logic again on the copy.
Roles and access cardThe card on Settings says Editors can create and edit quizzes. In fact only administrators can open Quizably or use its admin features.Treat the card as information only. See Capabilities and security.
Defaults apply to new quizzes onlyThe Branding and Defaults settings are applied when a quiz is created. Changing them does not update quizzes you already have.Change existing quizzes in their own Design and Form tabs. See Plugin settings.

Resume

AreaWhat you will seeWhat to do
Browser onlyA visitor who reloads or comes back sees “Resume where you left off?” only in the same browser on the same device, for up to 7 days. Typed answers and the lead form details are never saved, so they are entered again.Nothing needed. Keep short-text questions few.
Unfinished attemptsResuming starts a new attempt and replays the saved answers into it. The earlier attempt stays unfinished.Expect some unfinished submissions in Analytics.

Data and language

AreaWhat you will seeWhat to do
Deleting the pluginDeleting the plugin from the Plugins screen keeps your quizzes, leads and settings. This is on purpose. To erase everything on deletion, add define( 'QUIZABLY_REMOVE_ALL_DATA', true ); to wp-config.php before you delete. See Data and privacy.
Translation filesThe whole interface can be translated, but only the template file (quizably.pot) is included. There are no ready translations.Add your language with Loco Translate, Poedit or translate.wordpress.org. See Translation.
