Frequently asked questions

Short answers about the free Quizably plugin: cost, limits, where answers and leads are stored, exports, caching, translation and uninstalling.

General

Is Quizably free?

Yes. The plugin is free to install and use, and this documentation covers the free plugin.

Are there limits on quizzes, questions or leads?

The plugin does not cap the number of quizzes, questions, answers, results or leads. Practical limits are your hosting and database. The Advance Quiz block picker lists the 100 most recently updated quizzes, and the Leads quiz filter also lists the first 100.

What quiz types are there?

Four: Personality / Result, Trivia / Score-based, Survey / Form and Poll / Single question. See Quiz types.

Does it work with my theme?

Quizably renders inside your page content through a block or shortcode, so it works with any theme that displays page content. The quiz has its own colors, font and layout set in the builder. Some themes apply strong global styles that can change spacing or fonts. Test on your theme and adjust the Design drawer if needed.

What do I need to run it?

WordPress 6.0 or later and PHP 7.4 or later. The quiz needs a modern browser with JavaScript. See Requirements and compatibility.

Data and leads

Are visitors’ answers stored?

Yes. Each submission stores the answers, including typed text, along with the score and result. See Data, privacy and security.

Where can I see the answers?

Open Leads, select a lead and look at the Answers section, or export the leads CSV, which has one column per question. Both show the lead’s latest completed submission. Answers from visitors who did not give an email cannot be read per person. Per-answer totals are in the quiz’s Analytics section, and a poll shows its totals to visitors.

Where are leads stored, and can I export them?

Leads are stored in your own WordPress database and listed under Leads. Select Export CSV to download the current filtered list. The CSV has the lead’s details, quiz, result, score, double opt-in status, UTM tags, custom fields and one column per question. See Leads dashboard.

Can I send leads to another tool?

Yes, with a per-quiz webhook on the Integrations tab. It works with Zapier, Make, n8n or any HTTPS endpoint. See Webhooks.

Does Quizably email my visitors their result?

No. Visitors get no email from Quizably. You can receive alerts yourself in Settings. See Email notifications.

Does it use cookies?

No cookies are set. The browser’s sessionStorage and localStorage keep a few small entries: a random order seed, a visitor’s quiz progress for resuming (7 days, never names, emails or typed text), and a note that a popup already opened. See Data, privacy and security.

Are IP addresses stored?

No plain IP addresses. A salted, shortened SHA-256 hash is stored and used for rate limiting.

Building and embedding

Can visitors resume a quiz?

Yes. If a visitor reloads or comes back within 7 days in the same browser, they see “Resume where you left off?” with Resume and Start over. To take a quiz offline, use Set to draft in All Quizzes.

How do I get the shortcode?

Open the quiz, go to the Summary tab and select Copy on the Shortcode card. See Embed a quiz.

Does it work with caching plugins?

Yes, with two cautions. Clear the page cache after editing a quiz, and do not block or cache the /wp-json/quizably/ routes. Submissions are saved through separate requests, so they still record on cached pages.

Can I move a quiz to another site?

Yes. Use Export in All Quizzes and Import quiz on the other site. The quiz arrives as a draft. Leads and submissions are not exported. See Quiz export and import.

Language and uninstall

Can I translate it?

Yes. The admin screens, the quiz player and the PHP text are all translatable, and the plugin ships a .pot file. It does not ship translated language files, so you add your own with a tool such as Loco Translate. Your own quiz text can be in any language. Right-to-left languages are supported. See Translate Quizably.

What happens to my data if I uninstall?

Nothing is deleted, whether you deactivate or delete the plugin. To erase all data when deleting, add define( 'QUIZABLY_REMOVE_ALL_DATA', true ); to wp-config.php first. See Data, privacy and security.

Who can manage quizzes?

Only Administrators can open the Quiz Builder admin.
