The Intro screen

Set the title, subtitle, image, start button and estimated time line that visitors see first, using the Intro tab in the builder.

The intro screen is the first thing a visitor sees, unless you have set your lead form to appear before the quiz. You edit it in the Intro tab of the builder.

What visitors see

The intro screen can show:

  • A small label above the title with the quiz type: Personality, Trivia, Survey or Poll.
  • A title and a subtitle.
  • An optional cover image.
  • A line with the question count and time estimate.
  • A start button.

Clicking the start button moves the visitor to the first question.

Note: If the lead form is set to Before quiz, visitors see the form first and then the quiz. See Lead capture form.

Edit the intro

  1. Open the quiz and go to the Intro tab.
  2. Click the title and type your own. The placeholder is “Ready to find out?”. If you leave it empty, the quiz title is used.
  3. Click the subtitle and write a short hook. The placeholder is “A short hook explaining what the quiz is about.”
  4. Click Add image to set a cover image from the WordPress media library.
  5. Adjust the options in the properties panel, then click Save.

Image fit is Contain, Cover or Repeat, the same as on questions. The height slider runs from 80 to 800 px.

The start button

Type your own text into Start button label, for example “Find my match” or “Begin”. An empty label falls back to “Start quiz”.

The meta line

With Show estimated time on, the intro shows a line such as “5 questions, about 2 min, 4 results”. It covers the question count, the estimated completion time and the number of results.

The time estimate is about 20 seconds per question, with a minimum of 30 seconds in total, rounded to whole minutes and never less than one minute. Turn the toggle off to hide the line. You switch it from the Intro tab.

Background

Turn on the background to add an image behind the intro, then set Overlay opacity from 0 to 100% so the text stays readable. See Design, colors and backgrounds.

Things to know

  • There is no switch in the builder to turn off the intro screen. On a page, the Auto-start on load toggle of the quiz block (or autostart="1" on the shortcode) skips it and goes straight to the first question.
  • A visitor who reloads a quiz in progress sees “Resume where you left off?” with Resume and Start over instead of the intro. See Embed a quiz.
  • Quiz wide colors, font and template come from the Design drawer, not from this tab.
  • The intro title defaults to the quiz title, so renaming the quiz changes the intro unless you typed your own title.
