Plugin settings
Every Quizably setting: defaults for new quizzes, notification alerts, sender and Reply-To, the email subject and body, consent text and default webhook URL.
Plugin-wide settings live under Quiz Builder, then Settings. They save automatically a moment after you change them. A small pill shows Saving… and then Saved.
The sections are Branding, Defaults, Notifications, Email, Privacy, Roles & access, Integrations, Danger zone and License. The Branding and Defaults options set the starting point for new quizzes, and each quiz can still change them in the builder. See Design and backgrounds.
Defaults for new quizzes
These apply only when you create a quiz from scratch. They do not change quizzes you already have, and a quiz started from a preset keeps the preset’s own design.
| Section | Setting | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Branding | Brand color | Used for buttons, links and progress indicators in new quizzes. A hex color such as #4F46E5. |
| Branding | Accent color | Used for highlights and secondary callouts in new quizzes. |
| Defaults | Default template | Pre-selected on the New Quiz modal. |
| Defaults | Default font | The typeface new quizzes start with. |
| Defaults | Default button shape | Rounded, Pill or Sharp. |
| Defaults | Default form position | Before the quiz, End of the quiz or Off - never collect. Sets where the lead form appears in new quizzes. |
| Privacy | Default consent text | Copied into new quizzes that have a form. Each quiz can change it on its Form tab. |
Email alerts
Open the Notifications section. These switches control emails sent to you, the site owner, when visitors use a quiz.
| Setting | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Email me on new submissions | Off | Sends one email each time a visitor completes a quiz. |
| Email me on new leads | Off | Sends an email each time a lead form is submitted. |
| Notifications recipient | Empty | The address that receives the alerts. If empty, the WordPress admin email is used. |
Notes:
- The recipient must be one valid email address. If it is not valid, no email is sent.
- There is one recipient for the whole site. You cannot set a different address per quiz or add copies.
- The lead alert fires every time the form is submitted, including repeat submissions by the same person.
- Visitors do not receive any email from Quizably about their result.
Emails are sent with the standard WordPress mail function. If your site cannot send mail, alerts will not arrive. See Troubleshooting.
Sender
Open the Email section, under Sender.
| Setting | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| From name | Empty, so your site title is used | The name shown as the sender. |
| From address | Empty, so your WordPress admin email is used | The address the email is sent from. |
Use a From address on your own domain. Many mail servers reject or filter mail sent from addresses they do not recognize. If you use an SMTP plugin, match this address to the account that plugin sends from.
Reply-To matches lead email is off by default. When on, alert emails get a Reply-To header with the lead’s email (when the visitor gave one), so you can reply straight to them.
Alert message
Under Alert message you can customize the text of the emails.
| Setting | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Submission email subject | Empty, so a built-in subject is used | The subject line. |
| Submission email body | Empty, so a built-in body is used | The message. It uses a rich text editor with buttons for inserting tokens. |
Built-in defaults when the fields are empty:
| Subject | |
|---|---|
| Quiz completed | New quiz submission: {quiz_title} |
| Lead captured | New quiz lead: {quiz_title} ({user_email}) |
Any subject and body you write is used for both kinds of email. If you want the wording to fit both, keep it general, or only use tokens that make sense in each. In the lead email, {result_title} is blank and {score} shows “N/A”, because the lead is captured before the result is scored.
Tokens
Put these in the subject or body. They are replaced with real values when the email is sent.
| Token | Replaced with |
|---|---|
{quiz_title} | The quiz title. |
{result_title} | The result the visitor received. |
{score} | The score. |
{user_name} | The lead’s name. |
{user_email} | The lead’s email. |
{submitted_at} | When it was submitted. |
{site_title} | Your site title. |
{admin_url} | A link to the Leads screen. |
The body accepts basic formatting such as bold, italic, lists, links and headings. A body with no formatting is sent as plain text. Token values are escaped, so visitor-typed text cannot inject markup into your email.
For full detail and examples, see Email notifications.
Privacy section
Besides Default consent text (above), the Privacy section shows a read-only Data baseline note: IP addresses are always hashed with SHA-256 before they are stored. See Data, privacy and security.
Roles and access
The Roles & access section is a read-only card listing Administrator, Editor and Author. Do not rely on it for Editors: it says an Editor can create and edit quizzes, but in the plugin only administrators can open Quizably and use its admin features. See Capabilities and security.
Integrations
The Integrations section points you to the Integrations screen. There, the Webhook card has a Default webhook URL. A quiz that has no webhook URL of its own sends to it. Leave it blank to turn the default off. It must be a valid http or https address. See Webhooks.
Danger zone
Reset all puts every global setting back to its default. Your quizzes, questions, leads and submissions are not touched.
